It's berry season. A perfect time to get outdoors, get back to where food comes from and try to sweetest berries that just don't compare to what we find at the grocery store. I felt an urge to think of something fun, easy and colorful that I could do for my next recipe and something you might see on a menu if you were hosting friends and enjoying a summer evening. If you want something even more lovely, serve alongside a balsamic reduction, and pair it off with a nice bottle of wine.
Recipe:
12 strawberries, stems cut off
6 pieces of Bocconcini cheese
12 small pieces of basil leaf
6 mini skewers
Directions:
Carefully pierce one strawberry through the skewer and then a piece of basil leaf, followed by Bocconcini cheese. Add another basil leaf and finish it off with a final strawberry. Repeat for the following skewers. Serve, enjoy and host on.
