Best almond butter energy bites
These energy bites are so jam packed with flavor - in fact, along with almond butter, oats and a few other delicious things they also have a little something unexpected in them: Crofter's Organic premium grape jelly. If you haven't guessed it yet, these are inspired by the classic PB&J but featuring smooth almond butter instead and as a quick nutrient packed snack-on-the-go. Try the simple recipe or for something even more amazing add a bit of grape jelly in the middle.
Ingredients
3/4 cup of rolled oats
2 tbsp of smooth, natural almond butter
1 tsp of hemp hearts
1 tsp of chia seeds (optional - if you don't mind a little crunch)
1 tbsp of pure maple syrup
1 1/2 to 2 tbsp of Crofter's Organic premium grape jelly (sold in the natural food section at Loblaws and most health food stores)
Directions
Mix all ingredients in a medium sized bowls. Roll into balls and if you want a bit of jam filling in them too, simply use your thumb to press down on the ball you just made and add in a tiny bit of jelly, then press it back together into the shape of a ball. Store in the fridge for about a week. This recipe doubles easily if you want more than what it made in the picture above.
